Chris has lived in the Carnforth area for over 40 years and was really pleased to join the Town Council in December 2022. Chris was also successful in being elected as one of the three Labour City Councillors for the Carnforth and Millhead Ward in May 2023. Chris has brought with him a wealth of experience in the areas of housing, neighbourhood management, community development, community safety, emergency planning, finance, plus a broad depth of knowledge in many other areas.
He has an established track record of working with community and resident groups, helping, and assisting them in making a positive difference for their communities. Chris has wide experience of joint working in a multi-agency environment, in neighbourhood management, community safety, adult and children safeguarding and emergency planning
In addition to his roles as a local Councillor, Chris also serves as a Trustee and Treasurer for Citizens Advice North Lancashire which provides free, confidential, and impartial advice to help people overcome their problems. Chris is also a Trustee for the Lancaster Charity, and Platten & Benson Almshouse Trust, both local almshouse charities that provide affordable, supported accommodation for local people in need.
Chris’s commitment to the town and its residents drives his work and he works hard in supporting residents to ensure that their voices are heard, helping residents respond to planning applications and community issues. As a City Councillor his responsibilities include contributing to city-wide decisions and advocating for the welfare of Lancaster’s inhabitants, but also with a Carnforth focus.
Chris is passionate in supporting residents’ aspirations to see an improvement in the environment of the town, including finding ways of addressing the strains on local services, and facilities. For Chris, being a councillor is a great privilege and he works tirelessly and is passionate about improving the town.
